Pilates for 60+
If you are 60+ and worried there is no Pilates class that will suit you or have found other classes just too hard, perhaps Pilates for 60+ is for you.We start our class exercising on a chair with gentle movements using stretch bands and/ or Chi Balls for resistance, working our arms, core muscles, back and legs. Our floor movements are designed to gently work the core, arms, butt and legs. We focus on breathing, control and alignment.
Movements are simple- you can work up to harder levels as you progress.
Have a look at the lovely ladies out at Te Atatu whom I had the pleasure of instructing a class for recently for a friend.
I call them the sunshine ladies as they are a group of 60+ ladies who meet weekly to stay fit and healthy through Pilates. The lady with the matt (Louise) is nearly 80 and can touch her hands to the floor and has gained flexibility and strength through Pilates and Yoga.
